First step? We listen. What’s your project about? Is it fiction or non-fiction? Do you have a synopsis you can send so we can understand your story better? Ideas on a cocktail napkin? The more familiar we are with your project, the better we can deliver a final product that you’ll be proud to use as your book cover.
Now that we understand your project, we’ll drill down into specific ideas. What did you envision for the cover? Got some examples of what you love? Trying to avoid a specific style? If you have no idea, that’s fine, we’ll help you come up with ideas, but if you have a clear vision, we’ll help you get there.
Before we start initial concepts, we’ll go over pricing so you know what to expect. If you’re thinking about simple stock photography and basic typography, we can still make your book cover look good on a tight budget. But what if you want unique illustrations? Unicorns? Someone on a unicorn with red hair tilted slightly back toward the camera pointing a crossbow at the camera on the unicorn? No sweat. We can do that, we just need to factor it into your budget.
Now the real fun begins! We’ll start researching imagery, search for fonts you might like, if required, even do some sketches or rough thumbnails to explain layout of the book cover. We’ll keep you in the loop every step of the way. Once initial ideas are approved by you, we’ll start finessing the final product.
Once approved by you, we’ll deliver the digital version ready to upload to Amazon’s KDP process. Having problems uploading? We’ll walk you through it (we’ve gone through it plenty of times).
If we’re also doing a print version, we’ll hand that off. We can walk you through the process of uploading the cover to KDP as well.
